Name: Padmé Amidala Skywalker

Appearance: Padmé Amidala stands at 5'3" and while some would consider that short she has more charisma to make up for that. With her training to go into a career in politics she learned from an early age how to stand tall and keep her head raised high. She has long dark brown hair that she usually wears in elaborate styles complimenting her outfits, but on the rare occasion that she allows it down it falls down her back in waves. Her brown eyes don't miss much and are ever alert while her face is quite skilled at not giving away any of her emotions (a trick picked up from being Queen), but lovely enough for a young boy to declare her an angel.
History: Wiki Link. She will be coming from after her wedding to Anakin Skywalker.
Powers/Talents: Padmé has considerable skills when it comes to weapons, namely blasters, and has shown skills in being able to pilot ships. She is also quite skilled in the game of politics. So, while she doesn't have any supernatural abilities she manages to take care of herself.

Personality: From a very early age Padmé was taught to be selfless and take care of others before herself by her parents. It was something that she found quite easy to follow and it helped her with choosing a path in politics. Rallying around causes that would support the good of all people, not just herself, and help the weak was something she threw herself completely into. She learned kindness, compassion, and passion throughout her teenage years as she ascended the ranks in Naboo politics and was eventually elected Queen at the age of 14.

It was during her reign as Queen that her ideals were truly tested when the Trade Federation decided to enforce a blockade on her planet. She had to figure out a diplomatic way to resolve this issue while making sure it was for the good of her people. However, she is firm when it comes to making sure she does right thing and she won't go down without a fight. She fought tooth and nail to protect her life and make sure she got to the Senate to plead her case, which she did in a very persuasive and emphatic way. Because of her compassion for the needs of the people of Naboo when she finished her reign of Queen she accepted the new Queen's recommendation to become a Senator and continue to champion for their planet.

Her time as Queen caused her to grow up and mature quickly and with that came her strong will and self-reliance. She knows how to take care of herself and believe in her causes, but she also tends to believe the best in people and has a bit of naiveté when it comes to knowing right from wrong. Running alongside this naiveté is her loyal nature to those that she finds trustworthy. She goes along with plans that Chancellor Palpatine does believing that they will help the people of the Republic in the long run, but has no idea that she’s playing into his hand that will destroy the Republic that she fights for.

As far as friendships go, she gets along quite well with her parents and her sister. They were the ones that taught her how to be selfless and basically helped and supported her along her path of politics. They always backed her up and she never forgot that as she grew up. Sometimes her sister would be annoyed at the fact that Padmé didn’t put herself first, but it was never a point of serious contention between them and always did their best to keep things happy between them. One of her favorite places to visit is her parent’s home when she has time to get away from her work and she always makes sure to keep her family updated on what is going on her life. Another set of friendships is the one with her handmaidens. She trusted these women with her life and they grew so close that it was hard for outsiders to pick them apart from each other. She knows what risks they go through and her heart breaks anytime something bad happens to them, which happens more as assassination attempts began on her life. There are very few people that she trusts as implicitly as these select women. And there are also a few senators that she considers her close friends, including Bail Organa, because politics is a tricky game. Finding likeminded people can be hard in a situation like that, but she realized that you need to hold close to the few people that share your ideals.

Relationships never came easy for Padmé because she put her work first and didn’t really leave herself any time nor energy to even think about the idea of being with someone. Anakin Skywalker kind of snuck up on her and she knew enough to try and prevent that from happening because it would endanger the two of them and she didn’t want to become any kind of enemy to the Jedi. However, spending time with him one-on-one opened up something inside of herself that she never really knew existed and in the face of certain death she allowed herself a moment to admit to the world that she loved him. Luckily, that certain death was defeated and she couldn’t take back those words, but instead decided to embrace it and finally go against the rules she had set up for her life. However, although she certainly views his master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, as someone she respects she knows that Obi-Wan would have very strong opinions on their relationship if it was ever revealed. She does not spend as much time with the man as Anakin and holds him a bit at arm’s length because of that fear of discovery.

In regards to her AU self, the two of them are quite similar. They have the same ideals and belief that they can do right in the world and they need to champion for their causes. However, since Padmé in AU grew up as a regular US Citizen and has seen the trials and tribulations of her country she is slightly more cynical of things. She wants to do good and help the weak, but she also knows how things work in the real world. Lawyers are sharks and she does her best to try and not get caught into that trap of becoming someone who is shrewd and only works to line her pockets. She is also more open to relationships and friendships, happily accepting anyone, since she doesn’t have the kind of lifestyle that opens itself up to bad things happening like in the Republic. I think it’ll be interesting to see how Padmé tries to bring those two slightly opposing views together in herself. It will most likely end up with her wanting to openly declare that she is married to Anakin and not give a damn what people think about it while trying to discover a better way to help the world since now she knows what she is truly capable of and couldn’t accomplish in her AU life.

Why would your character be chosen? Padmé was born for a life of service and she has proven that she knows how to lead. Her reign as Queen was well received and she continued her work as a Senator. If the Nysgods are looking for someone to match their Prince as an equal than she would be a very good candidate.

How much does your character know about nonhumans? A whole heck of a lot. When you're the Queen of a planet in a galaxy far far away you tend to run into all sorts of nonhumans. Even more so when you go to the Galactic Senate and see representatives from all the planets that make up the galaxy. It's completely normal to Padmé and I honestly think she would be far more confused to not see nonhumans all the time.

Why this character: I absolutely adore Star Wars and while not everyone loves the prequels I enjoy the dynamic between Obi-Wan/Anakin/Padmé as fodder to the original trilogy. I think that Padmé is an amazing character and the embodiment of amazingness. I believe that she wasn't really fleshed out to her potential in the movies and I hope to be able to give her a little more life. I also think that she deserves to have a different kind of life with Anakin that isn't bound by the chains of the Jedi Council. But more important, she's one of my favorite characters in the world and I love playing her.

AU Addendum: In the next section, Past Game History, you will read about Padmé's AU life. She was living a normal every day Earth life and had no idea about this life of hers involving Naboo, the Republic, and Jedi. But, the moment she moved to Cypress in Orange County she began to experience dreams of this other life of hers. The reasons behind the dreams was never figured out, but everyone involved in the Valar network had this shared dreaming experience of other lives. Over the course of two years they happened infrequently, but she dreamt of the life she was/is currently living up until she was taken Nysgod.

The plan between the player of Anakin and I to keep this AU/Past Game history is to give our characters happy memories. Things aren't perfect for them in their canon, but they had a basically perfect life together in Valar. Padmé will be a canon character, but with the memories of this AU life and the memories of dreaming about her current life. I am making it so that Padmé only dreamt of her life up until her current canon point as not to give her spoilers for her future. The premise to Valar is here to help you make sense.

Past Game History: Padmé was born the eldest of two daughters to the Amidala family. Her mother and her father met while they were attending law school together and their courtship was quick and efficient. After a couple years of marriage Padmé was brought into the world and a couple years later came her sister. Her mother joined a law firm and began the slow rise to partner while her father decided to go into government. It wasn't long before set his eye on joining the senate. Padmé was only six when her father first got elected to be a Senator for Oregon. It was a time of growth for the Amidala family because the women had to deal with their father being in and out of the state quite often, but her mother soon became a socialite and partner at the law firm, so she managed to keep busy.

Padmé excelled at school and she had a deep interest in her parent's jobs. She was quite proud that her parents had important jobs and liked to make sure that they would come to career day at elementary school. Her father served two terms as Senator and stepped down when the President asked him to be an Ambassador to Armenia. The Amidala family decided to all move over for a year and Padmé would later cite this as one of her favorite memories and a great introduction to other cultures. After the year was up the women left and came back to the States. Her father returned from Armenia a few years later and decided to take a break from Government work and went back into law. Once back in the States she excelled in her middle school and high school years, taking honors/A.P. courses, and joining a lot of academic clubs (she even joined the Model U.N. club for fun) before graduating as valedictorian of her class.

After graduation Padmé decided to go to Stanford University and get a degree in political science and international relations. College was a lot of fun for Padmé because, despite working extremely hard in school, she was surrounded by a people that were just like her. She made a lot of friends and finally came out of her shell a little bit when she could. In between summers at school Padmé found quite a few internships to do and even interned with senators since she hadn't been able to do that kind of stuff as a child. After her freshman year she also did her best to work part time during school and help support herself.

Once she graduated she took almost a year off to go travel around Europe and do another internship. Once she was done with that she enrolled in the Stanford Law School and decided to go for a joint degree in Law and International Policy Studies. After graduation moved down to Cypress, California to do an internship at Morgan Lewis and prepare for the Bar exam. Once passing the Bar exam she was offered a job with Winchester and Weasley for a little while before the firm eventually split and she was offered a job in the legal department of Stark Industries.

While her career was taking off she also met Anakin Skywalker, whom she realized was a man from the strange dreams she had been having. She kept that a secret from him while they started a relationship, much to the chagrin of her friend Obi-Wan Kenobi. Once he had dreams she revealed hers as well and the bond between the two only grew deeper. The two found out they were pregnant earlier in the year, got engaged shortly after, and bought a house together. Unfortunately, life has a silly way of acting up and Anakin was involved in an accident that took away any memories he had of his other life. However, it only brought them closer and the two ran away to elope before the twins came. On October 10th, 2014 Lucas Benjamin and Leia Shmi Skywalker were born.

First-Person: [AU Network Post]
Ugh, Mondays. Now that I'm actually working once again it's hard to be motivated on a Monday morning. And it certainly doesn't help that I got hit with a case of the dreams again.

Has anyone had really big time gaps between their dreams? It's been 10 years between my dreams apparently. Thankfully I have her memories about what happened in the gap despite not having dreams about them. I stepped down as Queen and I'm now a Senator just like my dad for Naboo. But apparently times are still dangerous because my dreams started off with one of my decoys being blown up in an assassination attempt once we landed our ships in Coruscant. I'm tired of crying for people - I wish they wouldn't die. I feel so guilty that this stuff keeps happening.

At least I was able to speak to the Jedi Council and Chancellor Palpatine and Obi-Wan and Anakin are back as well and they've been assigned to watch over me. It's strange seeing how much they've changed since I see them here all the time, but it's been 10 years for my dream self. Anakin now looks like he does here and I know her feelings are starting to get a little confused

It's almost like I haven't slept at all and I'm ready to go back to sleep. But alas, work calls.
